The City of Richmond operates an extensive sanitary pump station system network which supports the conveyance of sanitary waste from buildings. Throughout the years the City has increased the resiliency of these systems by installing permanent backup diesel generators at key locations, and using portable diesel generators in the case of an emergency at stations without permanent backup power. To limit the use of portable generators throughout Richmond, the City plans to implement electrical resilience systems at sanitary pump stations which could keep the systems running in the event of a power outage. This pilot project involves installing electrical resilience systems at the Richmond Works Yard Sanitary Pump Station.
